The Lovu guide

How Lovu protects personal stories

Family stories deserve care. Before you share a voice or a memory, you should understand how it is protected, who may use it and where the limits are. Here is the practical picture, in plain language.

You choose who can connect

Avatars are not listed in a public family directory. A new account has no avatar access by default. The owner grants access to selected accounts; joining Lovu does not automatically open someone else’s avatar.

Private stored text is encrypted

Private memory, interview and transcript text is encrypted while stored, with keys derived separately for each user. This particular protection does not cover names, birth dates, audio, video or the numerical data used to find relevant memories.

Conversations use secure connections

Your connection to Lovu uses secure web transport. To answer you, Lovu and its providers process your speech, write a reply and generate its voice. This is not end-to-end encryption to an avatar: the services delivering the conversation must process its content.

Share a call thoughtfully

A recorded call can have a hard-to-guess link that expires after seven days. Anyone holding it can watch, forward it or download a copy during that time. Expiry cannot remove copies someone has already saved.

You can request deletion

Our deletion process explains how to ask us to remove your data. Copies downloaded by others cannot be retrieved, and some records may need to be retained for legal or operational reasons.
